“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through river of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2
“You may have noticed that I haven’t kept you from the deep waters, the rivers of difficulty, or the fire of oppression. I’m capable of doing so, yet I’ve chosen not to. I’ve allowed you to experience situations that compel you to depend on Me, to learn My Presence, and to believe in My goodness in spite of what you see. I’m honored when you insist-to the world, to your friends, to the adversary himself-that I’m loving and good. Your affirmations of My character are highly valued in heaven.
“Even so, I don’t leave you in the waters and fires. I assure you that My Presence is with you in the midst of them, and I promise that you will pass through them unharmed. You will experience trials in this world, but you will not be overcome by them. You worry because you feel as if I’m watching from a distance, and the more you think so, the more you question My love and compassion for you. But I’m present at all times. The dangers you go through are carefully measured. Evil is rampant in this world, but I put limits around it. Your trials may seem overwhelming, but I would never let them crush you. I can’t. I’m the God of promise, and I always keep My word.
“You never need to wonder if I’ve forsaken you. You’ve placed your trust in Me, and I never violate your trust. In your crises, remember My Presence. Know that I’m there. And be assured that you will pass through them unharmed.
Father, help me hang on to Your promise, even when I can’t see or sense Your presence. Give me the strength and faith to pass through my trials in triumph.
