OCTOBER IS PASTOR / STAFF / VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH at Patoka UMC – a perfect time to lift a prayer of thanks to the Lord for our pastor & spouse) and staff and those servants who choose to be the hands & feet of Christ through the many events and ministries of the church, and a great opportunity to send a note of thanks to let them know that what they do really does make a difference.

MOUNTAIN MISSION TRUCK will be at Patoka UMC this week. Any & all donations should be in the FLC attached garage no later than this evening, clearly marked “for Mountain Mission”.

SPECIAL CALLED MEETING THIS WEEK: The District Location and Building Committee will meet at Patoka UMC this Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 6:00 pm. Anyone may attend. The purpose of this meeting by that committee is to review, inspect and obtain approval from the conference for a possible purchase of the Frazer house next to the church. The tentative plan is to tear down the present parsonage to allow for better access to the church and family life center. When any church property is purchased or sold it requires the approval of the conference per the United Methodist Church Book of Discipline. This will take place prior to the Administrative Council meeting that evening so a report can be made at Administrative Council.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX MINISTRY is upon us… only 4 more Sundays until the deadline – November 13th! Last year’s response to this outreach ministry was fantastic, but we know we can do even better this year!!! All you have to do is…
1) Take a plain plastic box or shoebox
2) Fill the box with suggested items listed in the forms that are on the foyer table – remember to read & follow the instructions CAREFULLY, as some items will not be accepted
3) Leave your shoebox unwrapped – the youth will inspect and wrap them, and add to them if necessary, at a special time
4) Include $7 for shipping – either cash or check – make checks payable to Samaritans Purse, with a note on the memo line that the donation is for Operation Christmas Child
5) Bring your shoebox to the church no later than Sunday, November 13th
