DEAR PATOKA UMC FAMILY: A special thank you for the $2000.00 from Land of Lakes for our Food Pantry. We can never thank you enough for the donations you give every month. We have given to 141 families this year so far, and will be giving more the rest of the month, besides we will give some Christmas baskets. Your kindness is a blessing to these families! Love and prayers, June White / Pastor William Morris

DEAR FRIENDS: Your thoughtful donation of $100.00 is helping victims of domestic & sexual violence and providing proactive programs so that future generations do not fall victim to abuse. Your belief in Albion Fellows Bacon Center and our mission makes it possible for us to provide critical services, at no cost to those in need. Realizing that there are many deserving charities you could support, we are honored that you chose Albion. Thank you for your support and being a part of our “Community of Advocates”! Rachel Gumble, Community Engagement Director

APPLE BUTTER UPDATE: We still have an ample supply of apple butter available in the Family Life Center. Apple butter would make a great Christmas gift! Or just enjoy some as the family gathers for meals during the holidays. Here’s what we have (quarts-$8; pints-$6; ½ pints-$4):
Regular – 191 pints; 1 ½ pint
Regular Brown (no red hots) – 15 quarts; 23 pints; 2 ½ pints
Splenda – 52 quarts; 73 pints
Splenda Brown (no red hots) – 12 quarts; 23 pints; 2 ½ pints

TRUSTEES MEETING – Monday, December 19th at 6:30pm. This should be a relatively brief, yet VERY IMPORTANT meeting concerning the Frazier house, and your input is requested. Committee members are Mike Berry(chpsn.), Chris MacKay, Jeff May, Greg Ault, Mary Case, David Marvel, Ron Hudson, Patty Craig, Chris Heidenreich, John Dunning.

CANDLELIGHT/COMMUNION SERVICE: Patoka UMC’s Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion Service begins at 9:00pm this Saturday, December 24th. We invite everyone to join us as we ready our hearts and spirits to once again welcome the Christ Child. What better way to share the holidays than in God’s house with the ones we love and worship with throughout the year.

CHRISTMAS SUNDAY – next Sunday we will share in regular worship at 9:15am, however, there will be no Sunday School that morning and no UMYF. Come worship with us and then spend the day with family and friends, giving thanks for God’s unspeakable gift.

PANTRY NEEDS: A great number of families have been served recently through the Patoka Food Pantry and the shelves need restocking. Below are a number of items that are greatly needed at this time. Thank you in advance for your generosity and willingness to share with and bless others. Needed: hamburger helper box dinners, boxes of spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, cornbread mix, boxes of any variety of cheesy potatoes, pasta sides (in packets), canned beef stew, Spam & canned luncheon type meats, canned sausage gravy, canned ravioli/spaghetti & meatballs, etc., canned carrots, canned chili with beans, cooking oil, peanut butter, grape jelly, sugar, icing (no cake mixes needed at this time), canned tomato juice, Sunny D, hot chocolate or hot cocoa mixes, kool-aid, paper towels, toilet tissue, kleenex, dish soap, laundry detergent, men’s & women’s deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, bar soap, shaving cream.

2017 OFFERING ENVELOPES: An individual offering envelope system is available at PUMC for your convenience. This allows you to designate on the envelope where you prefer your tithes & offerings go each week – such as General Fund, Missions, etc. Use of these envelopes is confidential. They may also be used for tax purposes. For 2017 envelopes, contact Marilyn Hudson at 812-779-5235.

CHRISTMAS IDEAS: Class #7 has pecans available for your holiday baking – pieces and halves, as well as a wide variety of knives and kitchen items from Rada Cutlery that would make wonderful Christmas gifts. Pecans can be purchased in the Family Life Center, thru any member of the class, or by contacting Marilyn Hudson at 812-779-5235. Talk to Marilyn if interested in the knives or kitchen items.

CHURCH COOKBOOKS – A Taste of Heaven – Patoka UMC Church Family & Friends Cookbooks – are available for purchase in the Family Life Center and on the front entrance table. Books are $10 each and would make a great Christmas gifts for the cooks and collectors in your life!

 DONATE OLD CELL PHONS: Albion Fellows Bacon Center is one of the organizations supported by Patoka UMC through Missions giving. Albion Fellows would also benefit from your old, unwanted cell phones, which would be reprogrammed for 911 calls to assist victims of domestic abuse and other emergency situations. Patoka UMC now has a basket in the entryway specifically for discarded cell phones, along with our other collections. If you have the chargers for your old phones they would be appreciated as well, but are not required.
 BRA BANK APPEAL: We continue collecting gently used bras (leave in designated container by front doors) for a special project designed to aid African women in the prevention of sexual assaults [less likely to be attacked if wearing undergarments] and human trafficking. For more info go to, or and click on ‘Mozambique Or Bust’.
 LOVE PACKAGES: We continue to collect Bibles, Sunday School lessons, Upper Rooms, Our Daily Bread… basically any Christian literature, to be distributed to third world countries where so many are hungry for the word of God that they take our excess, out of date items and cherish them. Instead of throwing out these things, place them in the designated container near the front entrance and we will get them to people who need them.
