SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT – The trouble with nearly everybody who prays is that he says ‘Amen’ and runs away before God has a chance to reply. Listening to God is far more important than giving Him our ideas. (Frank Laubach)

CONFIRMATION CLASS: We have at least one youth that desires to go through Confirmation Classes to join the church. In the United Methodist Church, young adults from approximately 6th grade onward take “membership” classes and confirm their baptism and declare their acceptance of Jesus as their Lord and Savior and join the church. If you desire to join the class, please let me know (Pastor Jeff) and we will schedule the classes for everyone’s convenience. Please realize that I do not “recruit” for this, you must request.
NEW MEMBER CLASS: If anyone wishes to join the Patoka United Methodist Church as a member, please contact me (Pastor Jeff) and we will schedule classes. Please realize that I do not “recruit” for this, you must request.
LENTEN COIN BOXES are in the basket near the foyer table for you to take home and fill as you feel led during the Lenten Season. This year’s Lenten Offering will go to the Building Fund to be used for renovations and projects on the Frazier house. Please prayerfully consider your Lenten gift as it goes toward our future parsonage. Coin boxes will be collected on Easter Sunday, April 16th.
2017 DIRECTORY BOOKS ARE HERE!! Don’t forget to pick one up on your way out this morning. One per family, please, until we make sure everyone has one. If there are extras in a few weeks, feel free to take one for the car, your office, or wherever you might like.
MISSIONS/NURTURE PLEASE RESPOND: Recently, a letter was sent to every member of the Nurture Committee and Missions Committee. I pray that you have read it and you find that you desire to participate in the goals in the letter. In light of the fact that we desire maximum participation, there was a questionnaire along with it asking you for the best time for you to meet in committee. PLEASE fill it out and return it to the basket at the church entrance or discuss it with your committee chair. I feel that this will better enable us to advance the Kingdom in the world. Pastor Jeff

In the meantime, mark your calendars and start inviting friends & neighbors. Questions? Contact Jamie Schafer. Need a flyer for your place of employment or a bulletin board you know of? See Melissa in the church office.
EGG HUNT DONATIONS will be needed for the children’s Easter Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday, April 9th following Sunday School. Donations of very small, individually wrapped candies, stickers & toys, as well as LARGE Easter eggs are needed by Thursday, April 6th and should be left in the designated COLLECTION BOX IN THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER WESLEY ROOM beginning in March. Volunteers will be needed Friday, April 7th at 9:00am (Wesley Room) to fill eggs.
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE at GGH 5th Floor Activities Area is scheduled for April 14th at 2:00pm. Come join us as we share the afternoon with residents and staff. We hope you choose to be with us this year.
COMBINED MAUNDY THURSDAY / GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE at PUMC – join us at 7:00pm Friday, April 14th for something a little different, uplifting, challenging and inspiring as we reflect through word and song on Christ’s final moments of ministry on this earth. Invite some to join you.
EASTER SONRISE SERVICE will begin at 6:30am on April 16th. Regular worship is at 9:15am.
PEW PADS: Please remember to sign the pew pads each Sunday morning with the names of each member of your family in attendance… and make sure your neighbor has signed also. We are glad to send bulletins/newsletters but strive to be good stewards by not sending mail unnecessarily. If you do not sign we assume you are not in attendance. It is also vital that you sign for accurate record keeping. The pew pads can also be used to list prayer requests that are spoken or unspoken during Worship. It only takes a minute to sign your name and pass the book to your neighbor.
DONATE OLD CELL PHONES: Albion Fellows Bacon Center can benefit from your old, unwanted cell phones, which would be reprogrammed for 911 calls to assist victims of domestic abuse and other emergency situations. PUMC has a basket in the entryway specifically for discarded cell phones. The chargers would be appreciated as well, but are not required.
God speaks in a soft voice I can hear better when
I resolve to listen and stop putting words in His mouth.
