Bulletin 3/25/18

God was executed by people painfully like us, in a society very similar to our own…by a corrupt church, a timid politician, and a fickle proletariat led by professional agitators.  (Dorothy L. Sayers)

Each week, in addition to those on our prayer list, we remember someone, specifically,

by sending cards and notes to let them know they are being lifted up in a special way.

If you so choose, please join us as we remember…

Pray One for Another – James 5:16 / [Additions & Updates in BOLD]

Praying for others is a vital ministry at PUMC. Please help us do our best to honor the prayer requests each week by submitting those names to the church office, using the prayer cards in the racks, or writing them on the pew pads… and please update us with changes, or if names can be removed.  Names Will Automatically Be Removed At Month’s End (Or Reasonable Time) If We Receive No Updates.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER:  will be observed on Thursday, May 3rd.  This year’s theme is PRAY4UNITY.  In the past we have opened the church for anyone who would like to sign up to come and pray throughout the day.  This year we will have prayer packets available for anyone wishing to pray but the church will not be open. Fewer and fewer have signed up to pray each year, but we hope to reverse that trend in 2018, especially in light of the tragedies and violence that continue to affect our nation, all the way down to our local communities.  As citizens and residents of the United States and as believers in Christ Jesus, we not only have a spiritual responsibility, but a civic duty as well to stand in the gap for our nation.  Thank you in advance for making this a personal priority as we join others across the United States in praying for our nation, its leaders, our government leaders – local, state & national, our schools, churches, homes and families. A sign-up sheet will be available soon for anyone with a desire to see God move through the fervent prayers of His people.  You may pray as you wish, where you wish, throughout the day on May 3rd.  The place is not as important as the commitment.  The only requirement is that if you sign up, you pray.  If you would like a prayer packet “guide” to take home, please let Melissa know no later than Sunday, April 22nd.

THE HOPPERS IN CONCERT:  Southern Gospel group The Hoppers will be in concert at North Friendship General Baptist Church (Pastor Spencer & Melissa Gaines’ church) on Thursday, May 10th.  Known as America’s Favorite Family of Gospel Music, they are favorites on the Gaither Homecoming videos and tours, and their recordings frequently land at the top of Billboard sales charts and The Singing News radio charts.  This family group has been singing together for decades, sharing God’s message and touching countless lives through their songs and personal testimonies. Whether you’re a Southern Gospel fan or not, you will be blessed by their music.  The concert begins at 7:00pm(CST). Doors open at 6:15. North Friendship GBC is located at 2244 W. State Road 68 in Lynnville, Indiana. For more information call 812-922-3645 or talk to me (Melissa) in the PUMC church office. We would love to have you join us for an amazing night of music, fellowship and worship!
