BIBLE-IN-A-YEAR:  Copies of the monthly “Bible-In-A-Year” readings have been placed near the entry.  Feel free to pick one up!!

MISSION HERE YOUTH SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  Newburgh UMC is hosting a local intergenerational service opportunity this summer called ‘Mission Here’, June 14th-18th. This is the third year they have worked together with churches in our area to serve and demonstrate God’s love in a practical way and they wanted to extend an invitation to our families and congregation. This ‘Mission Here’ opportunity may suit families with younger teenagers as a first Mission Trip experience since it’s not a full week, or families who would benefit from a more affordable option, the total cost is $135 all-inclusive. More information (including photos and videos from last year’s event) can be found on their website www.missionhere.org/. Please contact Emma Loane at mma@newburghumc.org or 812-852-2946 ext. 120 if you have further questions.

HONORING FATHERS:  United Methodist Youth Home offers you the opportunity to honor your father while also assisting them with building a much needed Boys Home.  They hope you will consider giving a gift toward the Boys Home in honor or memory of the people who provided the building blocks for your life. Any amount is appreciated. Father’s Day is June 18th.  Donations are being accepted now.  The new Boys Home will feature a plaque celebrating the names of all honor & memorial gift dedications.  The names will also be listed in the next UMYH Newsletter, and a special letter mailed to the honorees. For more information or a donation form, see Melissa in the church office.

CAMP DISCOVERY VBS:  If you’re looking for something fun to do this summer, come join us for VBS at North Friendship General Baptist Church!!  Since there is no VBS in the immediate Patoka area that we are aware of, Spencer and I would like to invite your children and grandchildren to come and participate with us at North Friendship.  Yes, it’s a bit of a drive (about 30 minutes), but we’re sure it will be well worth it. Camp Discovery is for ages 4 thru those entering 6th grade, and will be held June 19th-22nd from 6:00-8:30pm. The children will enjoy snacks, Bible stories, music, games and more!  North Friendship General Baptist Church is located at 2244 W. State Road 68 in Lynnville, Indiana.  Questions?  Contact the church at 812-922-3645 or Kathy Yager at 812-922-5141.  I’ll be glad to answer any questions also and/or give directions.  Melissa Gaines

HOLIDAY WORLD TRIP:  The annual outing to Holiday World/Splashin’ Safari is set for Friday, June 23rd. Ticket cost is $32/person, with a minimum of 15 people, so if you plan to attend be sure to get your name on the sign-up sheet on the foyer table no later than Tuesday, June 20th .  PUMC youth entering 6thgrade in the fall or just having graduated high school may go for free, as the youth fund will pay for your admission and the admission of 1 friend you may take along.  All others, including adults and other children will have to pay the regular price.  We will leave PUMC at 8:30 that morning.

5-DAY GOOD NEWS CLUB IS COMING!!!  Patoka UMC will host the 5-Day Good News Club once again this summer – June 26th-30th from 12:30-2:00pm each day.  5-day club is for children ages 4-12 and will offer Bible lessons, activities, snacks, music and lots of fun!  We look forward to seeing you… and bring your friends too!!

ICE CREAM SOCIAL:  On Saturday, July 15th Patchwork Central will celebrate 2 milestones: Alan Winslow’s 95th birthday AND Patchwork Central’s 40th anniversary.  They will host an ice cream social at Patchwork from 1:00-4:00pm. All are invited!  Visit with old friends, tell stories from back in the day, and bring your instrument or your singing voice so you can join in on the song circle.  As an anniversary gift or birthday gift you might consider making a special donation to Patchwork Central of $40, $95, or $135 (40 + 95) for all the years they’re celebrating.  Or just bring yourself.  Time together is the biggest gift!  For more information call 812-424-2735.  Or go to www.pactchwork.org.  Patchwork creates community and encourages spiritual and social growth by offering hospitality, by providing opportunities for learning, by fostering creativity and involvement in the arts, and by working toward a more peaceful and just world.  The Patchwork Community meets for worship every Sunday at 5:15pm at the Meetinghouse, 100 Washington Avenue in Evansville, followed by a covered dish supper.  All are welcome!

NO MOUNTAIN MISSION PICK UP IN JUNE / FREE YARD SALE:  Instead of our June Mountain Mission pick up we will collect for the free back-to-school yard sale that Patoka UMC will host on Saturday, August 5th, 7:30-10:00am Any & all donations are appreciated and can be stored in the attached garage at the Family Life Center.  We do ask that any clothing (or any items for that matter) be in GOOD, CLEAN condition. Please consider whether or not YOU would use an item or wear something before you donate it.  Donations should be placed on the wood pallets to prevent water damage.  Clearly mark items “for yard sale” since the garage is used for other storage and we don’t want to overlook anything when sorting begins. Who can donate? EVERYONE!  Who can take advantage of the items being offered?  EVERYONE!  There is no charge.  Just come that morning and take what you like or need.  In the meantime, if you would like to assist with preparation for the sale or need more information, contact Kathy Hudson at 812-779-2058.
