Devotion #31 – Wednesday, March 16

The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like and ever-flowing spring.” Isaiah 58:11

From God to you: “Some people believe I guide them sporadically, that I give direction on an emergency basis, but not day by day. And those same people believe I give times of refreshing sparingly, only after seasons of hardship or barrenness when refreshing is needed. Those are, in fact, the experiences of many, but they are not necessary patterns. Life with Me doesn’t have to be this way. I’m much more willing to be in your life day by day, even moment by moment, much more than you think. The reason people don’t experience Me as often as they want is because they aren’t convinced they can. They make assumptions about apparent silences and withdraw rather than pressing in. They develop theological arguments to explain why I let them experience dry and difficult times. They don’t realize that if they had persisted in faith and patience, requirements for everything in My Kingdom, they would have broken through to a new depth and consistency in knowing and hearing Me. My guidance would have become clearer. My times of refreshing would have come sooner. Those who settled for less of Me would have gotten more.

“My desire is for you to be a well-watered garden and an ever-flowing spring. I may let you go through dry times, but they aren’t meant to last, and they aren’t meant to drive you away. They are meant to draw you nearer, to keep your face turned toward Me, to keep you asking for things I already want to give you. It you will ask, seek, knock, you will find. Consistently.” God

Pray to ask God to help you continually. Pray to stop trying to figure out exactly why. Pray to persevere.
